ADMISSION TO UCA (CENTRAL AMERICAN UNIVERSITY "JOSE SIMEON CAÑAS") Students seeking admission to our university can do it either by freshman admission or by transfer admission. The former is for students without prior university or college studies. The latter is for those who have earned some credits from accredited colleges with curricula approved by the corresponding authorities in each country. TRANSFER ADMISSION Credits may be transferred to those students who have taken at least three subjects from the major they require to enter at this university. Enrollment can be done in one of the two semesters offered in the academic year. The first one takes place from March to July, the second one from August to December. In addition to this, there is a summer session which takes place from January to February. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The admission requirements for transferring students include: - An application form transfer admission which will be given at the moment of the admission procedure. - A certified official transcript of any subjects completed at other universities or colleges. This transcript must be legalized by a public notary. - The course description (syllabus), properly legalized, of subjects completed at other colleges or universities. - A letter size photocopy of the high school diploma, attached to the original one to be confronted. The diploma must be properly authorized and legalized by a public notary and any other officials pertaining the legalization. - Two pictures. APPLICATION PERIOD (DATES) Applications for the second semester (August to December) should be in May or June. For the first semester (March-July), the dates are November, December and the first fifteen days of January. FEES Registration and tuition per semester are: Registration: $28.00 Tuition: Tuition consists of 5 monthly payments during the semester that range between $33.00 and $183.00. This fee is determined through a social economic study of the student's and his her immediate family's income. In addition, fees of examination that require laboratory use. The fees mentioned above are only for undergraduate programs. Master's and PhD program have different fees. ROOM AND BOARD The university lacks on campus facilities, but there are many host family-like dwellings around the university.
